We all Scream for Ice Cream

July is National Ice Cream month. In honor of this delicious cold and creamy treat, we thought we’d share a couple of our favorite ice cream haunts across the U.S. They are all worth every single calorie!

Fat Cat Creamery
This beloved Houston ice cream parlor specializes in small batch ice cream made with local ingredients. Five flavors are offered year-round, including Cat’s Meow Mexican vanilla, milk chocolate stout, Waterloo strawberry buttermilk, Amaya coffee & cream and dairy-free chai tea coconut. Seasonal flavors might include salted butter caramel, raspberry beret sorbet and pumpkin cheesecake. Houston, TX; 713-869-1080fatcatcreamery.com

Ample Hills Creamery
This Brooklyn scoop shop features fun flavors that tell a story, like State Fair, a corn ice cream with popcorn brittle and a caramel swirl; and Ode to Joy, a vegan treat with non-dairy coconut ice cream mixed with almond fudge brownies. Started by a couple in 2011 who still run the operation, Ample Hills now also has locations in New York, New Jersey and Florida. Check amplehills.com for the nearest location.

Lappert’s Hawaii
No trip to Hawaii is complete without a visit to Lappert’s. Founded in 1983, this Hawaiian ice cream shop features such delicious Hawaiian-inspired flavors as Kauai Pie, Kona Lava Java and caramel coconut macadamia nut. They also specialize in Hawaiian coffee. While there are Lappert’s locations in the continental U.S., these shops are separately owned and operated. The original ice cream maker, however, still runs five Lappert’s in Hawaii. Check lappertshawaii.com for the nearest location.

Graeter’s
Based in Cincinnati, this handcrafted ice cream shop dates back to the 1870s and uses a French pot process to perfect its hand-crafted ice creams and sorbets. With 19 locations in Cincinnati, as well as additional stores in other parts of Ohio, Chicago and Kentucky, this family-run ice cream purveyor serves up such signature flavors as black raspberry chocolate chip, classic butter pecan and Buckeye chocolate chip. In addition, there’s also a tempting menu of signature sundaes. Check graeters.com for the nearest location.
